Stripes were once considered so transgressive that to be caught wearing striped clothing was to risk being cast out of the community, or even executed, for some category of heresy. The design of this jersey was inspired by a more recent, and ongoing, transgression. These stripes were adapted from the redacted portions of the report produced by a special counsel investigation into the corrupt entanglements of a disgraced sitting president, and his efforts to control and obstruct that investigation.

The high contrast black and white motif is functional, too, as it helps to increase visibility on paved and unmaintained roads alike.
